The Latest Developments From Apple’s WWDC

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference kicked off this week, with CEO Tim Cook putting months of breathless speculation to rest announcing the release of the iOS 8 during the keynote address in San Francisco. Along with breakthrough software, the annual gathering of Apple developers revealed the new OS X named “Yosemite” and a widely anticipated new app that will help aggregate data from health and fitness trackers.

However, the announcements of the iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite were of no surprise. The company had described the iOS 8 as its biggest release since the launch of the App Store. The new operating system will bring out a whole new set of features for its users, including a new toolset to enable developers to develop new apps. It is expected that the iOS 8 will deliver a much simpler, faster, and more intuitive user experience.

New iOS 8 Apps

Amongst the new iOS apps, the company put a lot of emphasis on its news Health app. This app combines health monitoring technology and fitness apps to provide the user with a clear understanding of his health and fitness. Another key new app released was the Family Sharing app. This app will allow you to shares and buy pictures and calendars within the same household. The new messaging features will give the user a chance to share photos, videos, and voice messages with just a swipe.

The iOS 8’s predictive typing feature for Apple’s QuickType keyboard was another change that was announced in the conference. Finally, the iCloud Drive will now let you store and access files from anywhere. The iOS 8 will be launched later in the year, as it’s only available only to registered Apple developers, who will test the new iOS version on their devices. Just like the iOS 8, the Yosemite is only available to developers, until it is released worldwide in autumn.

Mac OS X: Yosemite

The next version of the Mac OS X: OS X 10.10 Yosemite will bring new levels of interaction between Mac PC’s and other Apple devices when it is also made available for free early. It will boast a number of unique capabilities that the company calls Continuity. This capability allows the Macbook to share its functionality with detected Apple devices in close proximity.  The new capabilities will also allow the user to pick up and initiate phone calls from within this OS, even when the iPhone is far from reach.
