“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
These wonderful lines from Sir Winston Churchill teach us a valuable lesson. In today’s life, where people have become busy in getting things for making a living, these words have taken a backseat. But, IndiaNIC took out time from its busy schedule to conduct a CSR activity for the children of Jodhpurgam Prathmik School. The company organized this event with the help of YUVA unstoppable, a non-profit, non-government youth organization.
With an aim to do something different, it branched off from the regular birthday celebrations that it conducts each month and planned this event. The scheduled day of the event was 30th June, 2012. Right from the top management to the trainees, all the employees enthusiastically participated in this event. The employees donated generously that resulted into the accumulation of a handsome amount. There was a huge collection of stationery that included drawing books, notebooks, pen, geometry boxes, crayons and other stuffs like wearable, lunch boxes and water bottles.
Several employees participated as volunteers who were grouped under five different team guides. There were five teams who were given the tasks of distribution in different standards. The whole event was properly organized, and the all the teams of CSR activity were set for the big event.
On Saturday morning, 30th June, 2012, IndiaNIC team reached Jodhpurgam Prathmik School at 8:30 am. The event started with a prayer and an inspiring speech by the Principal of the school. It was followed by cake-cutting events with the kids. After that, we started with our main activities that were goods distribution from the first standard to eighth standard.
In each class, our team guides conducted an interactive session in which they motivated and inspired the children for studying. They explained the importance of education and also introduced them with the latest gadgets in the market like iPhone and iPad. The students were mesmerized to learn about new, amazing things. To make the session more interesting, the CSR teams engaged the students via different activities like quiz and drawing.
The interactive session was followed with our last and the significant activity, which was the donation of the stationery and other collected materials. We donated around 300+ stationery items to the children. When they received such warmth and love, the joy of the children knew no bounds. The little faces were enlightened to have those things. We added sweetness to their joy by distributing chocolates and ice-cream.
While we were planning for the CSR activity, our schedule became tight. But, the happiness of the children and the joy of giving made our efforts and pain worth celebrating. We hope that we could always follow the valuable words of Sir Winston Churchill and keep lighting up more lives with the joy of giving because as Oprah Winfrey says, giving is an on-going process, and it’s not just about being able to write a check but, it’s being able to touch somebody’s life.
